Why April is the time to try microneedling

Why April is the time to try microneedling
After a winter of harsh weather and the oxidative stress associated with party season, spring brings a more forgiving climate for your skin to rebalance and renew itself. As well as being the ideal time to reset your routine (making sure your 10-minute dose of LED features regularly), April provides an opportunity to experiment with more invasive therapies such as microneedling.

Microneedling for skin
Microneedling involves the use of a needling device to create controlled skin injury. Like light therapy, microneedling triggers your skin’s production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, firmer skin. But unlike light therapy, microneedling requires 48 hours of downtime (you’ll feel a sensation similar to sunburn after your treatment). Beginning a course of treatments now means your complexion will be prepped for all those weddings, holidays and summer events ahead. For optimal results, start a series of facials six to eight weeks before any big dates in your diary.

Industry experts are now recognising LED as an essential add-on to microneedling, because it not only boosts collagen between invasive treatments, but speeds up your skin’s recovery time from them due to its anti-inflammatory properties. We include LED in all of our microneedling treatments and recommend Boost wearable LED to support recovery at home. Find out more about our Advanced Microneedling facials.

Microneedling for hair
If you’re looking to improve hair density and prevent hair thinning, microneedling can support here too. When combined with growth factors, the treatment works by suppressing the inflammation and hormonal cues that trigger follicle cells to die, and stimulating follicle cell growth and hair follicle development, resulting in a reduction in hair breakage and loss.
